Why MindView

Most therapy in Staten Island has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take Aetna. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Aetna in Staten Island, in short

MindView Therapy is in-network with Aetna for Staten Island adults, by secure video anywhere in New York State, from a practice deliberately not based on the island. Your Aetna benefits get verified and your copay confirmed before the first session, and your privacy is structural, not promised. Accepting new clients now.

On an island where a quarter of the jobs are in health care, plenty of people needing a therapist work in the very buildings where therapists work. This page speaks to them, and to every other Staten Island Aetna member, about coverage, costs, and the quiet advantage of seeing a practice from off the island.

Does MindView take Aetna in Staten Island?

Yes. Aetna members on Staten Island book with us directly and are seen by secure video anywhere in New York State.

We are not based on the island, and for a lot of our Staten Island clients that is precisely the point. Our nearest office is in Jamaica, Queens, the sessions are virtual, and the borough’s smallness never enters the room.

A quarter of the island’s jobs are in health care

Health care is Staten Island’s largest employer, around 22,700 jobs by the state comptroller’s count of the 2017 payroll data, roughly a quarter of the island’s private employment. Staten Island University Hospital alone reports more than 6,600 staff including over a thousand physicians, and Richmond University Medical Center anchors the other side of the map.

A workforce that size carries a lot of Aetna cards, and since New York sells no individual Aetna plans, nearly every one of them arrived through an employer, hospital systems included. The benefit behind the badge covers therapy for the person wearing it.

Privacy in a borough where everyone knows everyone

A quarter of Staten Island’s jobs are in health care, which means the person you would rather not discuss your marriage in front of might well work one floor up. The tight-knit borough problem is real: your therapist should not be someone you will stand behind at the deli on Sunday.

Video therapy with an off-island practice dissolves the problem structurally. No shared hallways, no shared referral circles, no waiting room roulette. Your clinician is licensed in New York, bound by confidentiality, and, most usefully, a stranger to your zip code.

Aetna costs, settled before session one

Aetna employer designs run on a copay, one flat amount per session, or a deductible then coinsurance, a percentage after your threshold is met. Which one, and how much, is a lookup we perform against your actual plan, with the answer delivered before the intake. On New York-regulated plans, your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay, a rule we confirm rather than assume.

What the settled cost buys is a private hour for whatever the work leaves behind, vigilance that stays clocked in or a heaviness that follows the scrubs home, treated by someone with no connection to your floor.

Booking

The island’s complete plan list: UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare.

Choose your clinician at the booking page, request an hour that fits shift life, and we return with your verified cost. Phone better for you? (646) 493-4007, with an answer inside one business day.

What Aetna covers here

  • An Aetna card on Staten Island came through an employer, or through an Aetna Medicare plan at 65 and over. New York sells no individual Aetna plans, and the company exited individual marketplace coverage nationally for 2026.
  • Your employer's design sets the session cost, a flat copay or coinsurance after a deductible. We verify the design and confirm your figure before anything is scheduled.
  • On New York-regulated plans, your therapy copay cannot be higher than your primary-care copay. We confirm your plan's rules when we verify your benefits.
  • Aetna CVS Health on the card is the same coverage in newer packaging, and verification runs identically from the member ID.

How to book with Aetna

  1. 1

Locate your Aetna card; the member ID is all the verification needs.

  2. 2

Request a clinician and a time on our booking page, early mornings and evenings included.

  3. 3

We verify your plan and send the confirmed per-session cost before your intake.

  4. 4

Meet weekly by secure video from home, with no chance of the waiting room containing someone from your unit.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Aetna questions

Does MindView Therapy take Aetna in Staten Island?

Yes. We are in-network with Aetna and see Staten Island adults by secure video anywhere in New York State. We have no island office; our nearest is in Jamaica, Queens, and sessions happen by video.

I work at a Staten Island hospital. Will I run into my therapist at work?

No, and that is by design rather than luck. We are not based on the island, your sessions happen by video, and your therapist is not someone who shares your cafeteria, your charts, or your commute. For clinical staff, that separation is often the deciding factor.

What is my Aetna copay for therapy?

Your employer's plan design holds that answer, a flat copay or a deductible-then-coinsurance arrangement. We verify your actual plan and tell you the exact figure before your first session, so the cost is settled before the work starts.

Is Aetna CVS Health different?

No. It is the same Aetna coverage on a newer card, verified the same way from the same member ID.
