Why MindView

Most therapy in Rome has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Plenty of practices take Aetna. What you get here is one format for every client: a full intake, a written treatment plan, and standardized measures reviewed with you every month, so you can see whether it is working.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Aetna in Rome, in short

MindView Therapy is in-network with Aetna for Rome clients, seen by secure video anywhere in New York State. You pay your plan's copay or coinsurance rather than the full session fee, and we verify your benefits before your first session. We do not have a Rome office, and we are accepting new clients now.

If you searched for an Aetna therapist in Rome, this is the short version. We take Aetna, we are accepting new clients, and you can book online in about 30 seconds. Sessions are by secure video, so there is no commute and no waiting room, and your telehealth benefit applies the same way it would to an office visit.

Does MindView take Aetna in Rome?

Yes. We are in-network with Aetna, and we see Rome clients by secure video anywhere in New York State.

Aetna prices therapy the way it prices a specialist visit, so what lands on your statement is a copay rather than the full session fee. Nothing is billed to you beyond that share.

We should be equally direct about the other half: we do not have an office in Rome. Our nearest office is in Buffalo, about 190 miles away. Every session runs online by secure video. Some people want a room and a door, and if that is you, a local practice serves you better than we will.

What should I know about Aetna specifically?

The network is the same, but copays, deductibles, and session limits can differ from Aetna’s own products. We verify your specific plan rather than assuming.

How does Aetna cover therapy?

New York parity law puts outpatient therapy on the same footing as medical care on Aetna’s commercial products. So the open question is never whether the sessions are covered, only what your copay turns out to be.

Most Aetna plans let you self-refer to an in-network behavioral health provider without a primary care referral. Referral rules differ between Aetna’s HMO and PPO products, so we read yours before you book.

What usually goes wrong with Aetna?

Ask about your plan, not Aetna generally. We check it for you before your first session.

Knowing that before the first session, rather than after a statement arrives, is the reason we verify at all.

What will I pay?

Aetna sells enough plan designs that a single number would be a guess, and we do not guess.

Most Aetna members pay a copay per session.

You will have the dollar figure before your first appointment, not after it. No statement arrives that you did not see coming.

Who do you help in Rome?

Rome has been through significant change since the Air Force base closed, and much of what people bring in reflects a long adjustment rather than one event.

We work with adults 18 and older, and clients come to us from the Fort Stanwix area, the Griffiss park area, Lee, Verona, and Whitesboro, and from across Oneida County.

Why video in Rome?

Rome is a small city with very few outpatient practices in it, and the pattern we hear is consistent: the local options were full, and the nearest available appointment meant driving to Utica or Syracuse. Thirty minutes each way at best, every week, is a scheduling problem rather than a motivation problem, and it is the reason a lot of people stop going.

In practice: a New York licensed clinician, your Aetna telehealth benefit applied at the usual level, and a session you take from wherever you happen to be in the state.

Does therapy by video actually work?

Research comparing video-delivered CBT with the in-person version has generally found comparable outcomes for the outpatient concerns we treat. We state it that carefully on purpose, because comparability is the claim the evidence supports.

The part we control is measurement. Standardized measures come around monthly, you and your therapist read the trend together, and a flat line is a reason to change the plan.

This format has limits and we would rather name them. If what you need is more structure than weekly outpatient video can carry, we will tell you that and point you somewhere it exists.

What happens after I book?

The first hour is an intake. You describe what brought you in, and you rate its intensity 0 to 10, which becomes the line everything later gets measured against. The history fills in from there, only as far as you want it to, and the goals that come out of it are written in words you chose.

Then the rhythm is weekly, with the measures reviewed once a month.

What else do you take in Rome?

Alongside Aetna, we are in-network in Rome with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. If more than one card exists in your household, we can tell you which leaves you owing less.

How do I start?

Book online through our secure client portal. It takes about 30 seconds. Have your Aetna member ID card ready.

We confirm the coverage, tell you the number, and get you on the calendar. We are accepting new clients and reply within one business day. Rather talk it through first? Call (646) 493-4007.

What Aetna covers here

  • Aetna is a national carrier and part of CVS Health. Aetna - we are in-network.
  • Because we are in-network, you owe your plan's copay, coinsurance, or remaining deductible rather than the full session rate. You are not billed the difference.
  • New York State law requires most commercial plans to cover mental health services comparably to medical services. Outpatient therapy is a covered benefit.
  • Most Aetna plans let you self-refer to an in-network behavioral health provider without a primary care referral. We confirm the rules for your specific product when we verify benefits.
  • Behavioral telehealth is how we see Rome clients, and it is covered on most plans. We confirm the benefit level for your specific plan before your first session.

How to book with Aetna

  1. 1

Have your Aetna member ID card ready. The member ID and plan name are on the front of the card.

  2. 2

Book a session online through our secure client portal. It takes about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

We verify your Aetna behavioral health benefits and confirm what you will owe before your first appointment.

  4. 4

Come to your first session, which is an intake, by secure video from wherever you are. If your coverage details change, we tell you before it costs you anything.

What does therapy here actually look like?

The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.

  1. Getting started

Your first session is an intake. Your therapist asks what brought you in and about your history, and you rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10. That becomes your baseline. You set a recurring weekly time before you leave.

  2. Mapping what is behind it

Your therapist walks through your life across stages, looking for the patterns and strengths behind what brought you in. You can decline any question and keep any answer short.

  3. Writing the plan together

You and your therapist build the plan together. Goals are tied to what you came in for, each with concrete objectives, plus one personal goal that matters to you.

  4. Ongoing

Weekly sessions work the plan. Once a month you and your therapist review standardized measures together to see whether it is working, and the plan is adjusted from what they show.

Therapy here is measured, not guessed

Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.

Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Use your Aetna benefits and get started.

Choose a time and book. It takes about 30 seconds. Opens our secure client portal.
