Why MindView

Most therapy in the Bronx has no structure. Ours has four stages and a scoreboard.

Most practices in the Bronx deliver whatever approach the therapist you happened to get was trained in. We run one format for every client, and we measure it.

  1. 01

    Intake

What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.

  2. 02

    Your history

Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.

  3. 03

    Treatment plan

Written and collaborative, built against those causes.

  4. 04

    Monthly review

Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.

A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.

Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

A course of CBT is won or lost on attendance, and the Bronx sets the hardest attendance conditions in the city: days that start earliest, run longest, and leave no obvious hour for one more trip.

MindView Therapy provides cognitive behavioral therapy for adults in the Bronx, by telehealth throughout New York. Our nearest office is in Jamaica, Queens, and no part of this course requires traveling to it.

What makes it CBT and not just therapy

The method is concrete. Sessions run an agenda, review the week’s practice, work one situation in detail, teach or sharpen a named skill, set the next task. The tools have names, thought records, behavioral activation, cognitive restructuring, graded exposure. And the real change happens between sessions, in ten-minute practice tasks named in session and done on the couch after a long day, because that is the shape of the evenings this course has to live in.

CBT is among the most heavily studied psychotherapies for anxiety and depression and a first-line treatment for both, and it is not a cure-all. We will not describe it as one, and a page that did would be selling rather than informing.

Course length and how progress is checked

Roughly 12 to 20 weekly sessions is the typical range, depending on goals, and it is a range rather than a promise. You set a 0 to 10 baseline at intake, standardized measures are reviewed with you monthly, and if the numbers sit flat after a fair trial the plan changes.

What CBT treats

Courses here are most often built for anxiety or depression; the same structure serves OCD alongside exposure work, panic, social anxiety, stress and burnout. When a different method suits your goals better, that gets said at intake, because we practice several and matching method to goal is part of the job.

CBT in the Bronx

Do the arithmetic this borough imposes. Mean travel time to work in the Bronx is 43.3 minutes, and 31.5% of commuters spend an hour or more each way (US Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 five-year estimates), among the longest days in the city. A 12-to-20-session course means exactly that many consecutive weeks of showing up, and a day already carrying two commute hours has no room for a third trip. The version of therapy that requires one is the version that stops at session five.

That drop-off pattern deserves candor, because it is how most abandoned courses actually end: not with a decision, but with a third reschedule that never re-books. The plan here pre-empts it by design. A fixed evening slot with zero travel, a phone fallback agreed in advance, practice tasks sized to real, tired evenings, and a course that moves inside the day’s existing shape instead of demanding a new one. More at our Bronx page.

Who practices it here

CBT is the foundation shared by the full clinical team: Michelle Zak, Seona King, Nirja Mistry, Evelyn Rivas and Jordyn Modelevsky. If the fit is wrong, you change therapist, not method, mid-course.

Insurance

CBT is billed under standard psychotherapy codes. We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We check your plan before the first session and tell you what you will pay.

Questions people ask before booking

I leave home at 6am and get back at 7pm. When does therapy happen? An evening video hour at home with no added trip, or an early slot where availability allows. It gets set at intake around your actual day.

What if I miss a week? Does the course fall apart? No. Missed weeks are planned for. What kills courses is the trip, and this format removes it.

Is CBT just positive thinking? No. You test the conclusions you already hold against evidence, and the ones that turn out accurate get problem-solving instead of reframing.

How do I know it is working? A 0 to 10 baseline at intake, then monthly standardized measures. Moving numbers mean continue; flat numbers mean the plan changes.

Do you take my insurance? We are in-network with the New York plans listed above, and benefits are verified before the first session.

If you are in crisis

We are not a crisis service. If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, call or text 988, any hour, free and confidential. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
