Why MindView
The method is only as good as the decision to use it.
Most practices use the one approach they trained in, on everyone. Holistic Therapy is one of many ours are trained in, and which one you get is decided by what is actually driving the problem, then reviewed against monthly measures.
- 01
Intake
What is actually going on, rated 0 to 10 as your baseline.
- 02
Your history
Why it is happening. History, relationships, work, health.
- 03
Treatment plan
Written and collaborative, built against those causes.
- 04
Monthly review
Standardized measures, reviewed with you. You see the trend.
A license is where our training starts, not where it ends.
Every clinician is state-licensed before they see a single client. Then they train with us across every modality, and how to match one to the problem in front of them.

Holistic therapy treats you as a whole person rather than a single symptom. Alongside your thoughts and feelings, your therapist looks at sleep, movement, food, physical health, relationships, work, culture, and meaning, because those things shape mental health and are often where a stuck problem is actually being held. The methods used are established psychotherapies, selected for your situation and written into a plan you review.
Might this approach fit you?
- Your anxiety shows up in your body first and nobody has taken that seriously.
- You have been told your labs are normal, but you still do not feel right.
- Therapy helped you understand the problem without changing how you actually feel day to day.
- Sleep, food, or movement are clearly part of this and you do not know where to start.
- Your culture, faith, or sense of meaning matters to how you heal, and it keeps getting skipped.
- You want one plan that connects the pieces instead of four professionals who never talk.
You do not have to be in crisis to start. If several of these sound familiar, therapy can help.
If this sounds like the support you want, we can help.

What is holistic therapy?
Holistic therapy treats you as a whole person instead of a single symptom. Your thoughts and feelings are part of the picture, and so are your sleep, your body, your relationships, your work, your culture, and your sense of meaning.
That is the entire idea, and it is less exotic than the word suggests. Two people can arrive with the same diagnosis for completely different reasons. One is not sleeping. One is in a relationship that is quietly draining them. Treating only the label misses what is actually driving it.
The American Psychological Association describes psychotherapy as work that accounts for a person’s full context, and holistic practice takes that seriously rather than treating it as background.
What holistic does not mean here
This word gets used loosely, so it is worth being direct about what you are and are not getting at MindView.
You are getting a wider assessment and established psychotherapies chosen for your situation, written into a plan you can read, with progress measured monthly.
You are not getting supplements, energy work, detoxes, or advice to stop a medication. We do not do those things and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If a claim sounds like it belongs in a wellness ad rather than a clinical note, it should not be coming from your therapist.
That distinction protects you. Holistic is not a reason to lower the evidence bar.
Why the body belongs in the conversation
Anxiety is not only a thought. It is a tight chest, a shallow breath, a jaw that will not unclench, a night of broken sleep that makes the next day worse. Depression flattens energy and appetite before it ever gets named.
If therapy only addresses the thinking, it can leave the physical half of the problem running underneath. Sometimes the fastest gain is not a cognitive insight at all. It is getting sleep back on a schedule, or getting movement into a week that has none.
Your therapist will not tell you your symptoms are “just stress,” and they will not tell you a walk fixes clinical depression. Both of those are wrong. The point is that the physical and the psychological hold each other up, so the plan should address both.
How does my therapist decide what to use?
They start with the full picture from your intake and history session, then choose methods against what that picture shows.
That might be CBT for a thought pattern, mindfulness-based work for a body that will not settle, behavioral activation for depression, or a concrete routine target for sleep. The reason for each choice is written into your treatment plan, so you can see why you are doing what you are doing.
If your therapist cannot explain the reasoning, ask. You are entitled to an answer.
Where does culture and meaning fit?
For many people it is central, and skipping it makes therapy feel beside the point.
Faith, family expectations, immigration, community, and what you believe your life is for all shape what recovery looks like to you. A plan that ignores them is a plan built for someone else. Those things belong in the room, and you decide how much of them to bring.
How do I start holistic therapy at MindView?
Book a session and your first appointment is a full intake. You will be asked about your history, your symptoms, your health, your sleep, and what a normal week actually looks like, because all of it matters to what comes next.
The early work produces a written plan naming what you are working on and why. Every month after that you complete standardized measures and review the trend with your therapist, so the question of whether this is working gets a real answer instead of a guess.
If you want a narrower method, integrative therapy blends established models around your goals, and somatic therapy works more specifically through the body.

What we use it to treat
What does therapy here actually look like?
The first three sessions follow a clear structure, so you always know what is coming next.
- The opening work
Your therapist asks what brought you in and takes your history, including sleep, energy, physical health, substances, and what a normal day looks like. You rate the intensity of what you are feeling from 0 to 10, which becomes your baseline. From there, your therapist walks through your life across stages, and in this approach they pay particular attention to the non-clinical strands: relationships, work, culture, faith, community, and the routines that hold your week together. You can decline any question and keep any answer short. You and your therapist build the plan together, and it names both the psychological work and the daily-life factors it depends on. A goal about panic might pair an exposure protocol with a concrete sleep target, because one will not hold without the other. You also set one personal goal that matters to you.
- Ongoing
Weekly sessions run the plan. Once a month you complete standardized measures, and you and your therapist review the trend together and adjust. If the lifestyle piece is not moving, that gets addressed rather than quietly dropped.
Therapy here is measured, not guessed
Once a month you have a measurement-based care review. You complete standardized measures, and your therapist reviews the trend with you. If something is not working, the plan changes. Regular therapy is the work. The review is the navigation system that keeps it pointed at the right target.
Sessions are weekly for the first two months to build a foundation, then frequency is reassessed with you. You set the pace, and you share only what you are comfortable sharing.

Common questions
Is holistic therapy the same as alternative medicine?
No, and this is the most common misunderstanding. At MindView, holistic describes how broadly we assess you, not a switch to unproven remedies. The treatment methods are established psychotherapies such as CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches. We do not prescribe supplements, we do not offer energy work, and we will not tell you to stop a medication.
Do you replace my doctor or my medication?
No. Holistic therapy works alongside medical care, it does not substitute for it. If something in your picture looks medical, your therapist will say so and encourage you to see the right professional. Decisions about medication belong to you and your prescriber.
Is holistic therapy covered by insurance?
We are in-network with most major plans. In New York: UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Medicare, Oscar Health, Meritain Health, Oxford Health Plans, Cigna, Optum, Highmark BCBS WNY, Univera Healthcare and MagnaCare. We confirm your benefits before your first session.
Does it work?
The methods used are evidence-based psychotherapies with strong research behind them, and the influence of sleep, physical activity, and physical health on mental health is well established. What no therapist can do is guarantee an outcome, and we will not claim one. What we will do is measure your progress monthly so you can see whether it is working.
Do I need a diagnosis to start?
No. People often choose this approach precisely because what they are dealing with does not sit neatly under one label.
Is it available by telehealth?
Yes. MindView offers secure telehealth across New York, and this approach translates well to video.
